
“Playful Pink”
Back to back? Awake NY has been in the Jordan collaborations rolodex since their Air Ship in 2024, yet it was last year when things really kicked into high gear. Their status as a top-flight partner was cemented when Angelo Baque and co. were afforded the opportunity to entirely reformat the Air Jordan 5 , a genuine sacred cow within the Retro catalog, by adding their script “A” logo to a shared duo that earned frequent inclusion in “sneaker of the year” conversations. Just over a year later, Awake NY will work sequentially through the archive, bringing their talent and flair to the Air Jordan 6 , similarly delivering a blue and a pink version of the championship-winning silhouette. Shown here is the rosier of the two, delivering what's almost AJ1 style blocking with a back/front delineation between the AJ6 overlay panels; the quarter through the toe majors in delicate light pink, while the rear steeps in hot pink. Continuing the mash-up atmosphere, a sole unit à la the “Infrared” adds serious visual contrast, with the triangular protrusions carrying pink splatters to tie back to the uppers. Of course, there's no shortage of branding, with shared Nike/Awake NY embroidery on the heel and a return of the script A in the topmost window on the sides.
