DMCA Policy

Overview

OFF SZN Hoops respects the intellectual property rights of others and responds to copyright takedown notices submitted under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). If you believe content on the site infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to represent, send a DMCA notice to our designated agent using the address below.

This is not the right channel for:

• Privacy concerns or profile-removal requests — use /privacy.
• Factual corrections to rankings, measurables, or commitments — use the “Suggest a correction” link on the player’s page.
• General press inquiries — use /contact.

Designated Agent

Send takedown notices and counter-notices to:

Email is the fastest route and the only channel we actively monitor for DMCA notices. Use the postal address only if required by your counsel; expect an emailed response in either case.

What a Valid Takedown Notice Must Include

To be actionable under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a notice must include all of the following. Notices missing any element will be returned with a request to cure:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner (or an authorized agent).
2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works at our site are covered by a single notice, a representative list is acceptable.
3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and where it is located on OFF SZN Hoops— please include the specific URL(s). General references like “the rankings section” are not sufficient.
4. Your contact information: full legal name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

Our Response Timeline

When we receive a valid notice we act “expeditiously” as required by statute. In practice:

• Acknowledgement email within 2 business days.
• Review and removal (or dispute) within 7 business days of receipt. Where the material is clearly infringing, removal is usually faster.
• If we remove content, we notify the user who posted it (if any) and explain the counter-notice path below.

Counter-Notices

If content you posted has been removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the designated agent above. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g), a counter-notice must include:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
4. Your full legal name, address, phone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court where your address is located (or, outside the U.S., the Federal District Court in which OFF SZN Hoops may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant or their agent.

If we receive a valid counter-notice we forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file suit within 10–14 business days, we may restore the removed material.

Repeat Infringer Policy

We terminate accounts of users who are, in our reasonable judgment, repeat copyright infringers. A “repeat infringer” is any user whose content has been the subject of two or more valid DMCA takedown notices within a rolling 12-month window, absent a successful counter-notice.

Misrepresentation

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing (or that removal was the result of mistake or misidentification) can subject the filer to liability for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees. File responsibly.
